My first query! Some of the birthplaces in my family are too long, eg: British Military Hospital plus town plus country. What is the best way to abbreviate so that my descendents will know where I mean? Jenny

What is the best way to abbreviate so that my descendents will know where I mean? Jenny Hi Jenny, Sorry to be delayed getting back to you. Fifteen days of changing my Mac and OS, almost all to retrieve years of saved data files and update/replace applications. Each part of a place name can be up to 31 characters. Thus you can enter British Military Hospital, Abercrombie, Sussex, England where the commas separate the local place (hospital), the town, the county and the country (or state for the U.S.). You should definitely not run them all together. Separated by commas tells PAWriter the level of the jurisdictions for the place. Read about this in the Reference guide, and/or hold down the shift key and move the cursor over a place entry field. Best regards, Howard
