My son and I are working on the family genealogy but he has his data file and I have mine. It would be nice if there was a way, through some collaboration software, that we would maintain a single "master" file and make changes OR a way to merge 2 data files and weed out the duplicates.

Yes, a collaborative PAWriter would be nice. But I suspect that would be a major effort on my part even if I knew right now how to do it. I'm afraid it's just little old me here, working on my own research and occasionally updating PAWriter with something I need or a feature with some universal appeal. Basically I wrote PAWriter for my own use and then decided to share it freely with anyone who might be interested. So my time and energy is limited and I really can't take on something like a collaborative database. I know there are some out there in the "cloud" that might meet your needs, but I don't remember which ones. A google search might turn them up. They would have to have some kind of a semaphore system to avoid update conflicts. As to merging two data files, one must be a GEDCOM to be merged into the other data file. But please read the PAWriter forum topic "Importing GEDCOMs into an existing file" under FAQs. I'm not sure this is really applicable to your suggestion, but I think it's important. Best, Howard

Thanks, Howard. I, and many others, appreciate your efforts with the software. I realize that a collaboration software would be difficult and time-consuming but you asked for wish list items so that's what I wish for . Cheers!
