I've received many messages about a problem opening PAWriter data files in PAWriter version 102. Here is my response to those messages:
Please add the extension .paw to the end of the PAWriter data file name. This was noted in the version 98 release and is now being enforced by Apple. Then the data file will open in PAWriter.

i installed version 102.4 today on my new Mac desktop running OSX 10.8.2. I am trying to get my file over form my old mac. I downloaded the file as a GED file to a thumb drive. I have tried to get it imported into the newly installed PaWriter. No matter what I do , I get a message that theFile ( name) 6-07 Paw2x GED is busy. In accord with some of your suggestions on other threads, I moved the file to the Documents folder, made a copy and changed the extension to .paw. Perhaps the file became corrupted in the move? ( please no!) Do you have any other suggestions? Thank you so much for doing all that you do. I have been using PaWriter since 2007 and have been extremely happy with it. I now have a very large file which at this point is only accessible on a dying old Mac so I am becoming very, very concerned!

The extension .paw should only be added to PAWriter data files. I'm confused about the version number 102.4. There is no .4. "Busy" probably has something to do with the thumb drive. Start over and email the GEDCOM with the extension .ged (perhaps zipped to save space) from your old computer to your new computer. You might try emailing the PAWriter data file with the extension .paw as well. One or the other or both should work. Make sure the PAW2U.app is in your applications folder, along with any Scrapbook file. If you still have a problem, email me the PAWriter data file as an attachment to an email and I will look at it. hmetcalfe@roadrunner.comBest, Howard
