If a name of a picture file (e.g., a JPEG file) exceeds 31 characters, the name will be condensed to 31 characters in a wallet. For example, the name "This is a picture of my grandfather Richard Oberwinder.jpg" will appear in the wallet as "This is a picture of#12AB55.jpg". That's OK and, starting in version 78, everthing will work as normal. Earlier versions of PAWriter should limit the names to 31 characters.
(This condensation by the OS ensures compatibility between OS X and OS 9.)
To ensure HTML reports, HTML web sites and showing the scrapbook from the file menu work properly, make sure your picture file names use only alphanumeric characters, dashes (-), underscores (_), periods (.) and spaces. It's also OK to use plus signs (+) and dollar signs ($), but their usage is generally rare.
