Ok, spilling my secrets - here is one thing I think a genealogy program should have:
A "global floating window" for adding a new person.
Maybe this can be an option to turn on and off via preferences, but it seems like a no-brainer. I'm sure I'm not the only one who is tired of flipping back and forth between a digital file on screen and the genealogy program where I'm entering information. Having a global floating window will allow me to see and drag around the image while not losing sight of my data entry window. Related to this, I think the dialogue box for adding a new person should be collapsible. As it is, a new person box is pretty big. If it could be a global floating window, then I want it to be small so I can see more of the image in my browser or other program. for example, when entering info from a census record, I want to be able to set the window to show just NAME and BIRT fields. It would also be nice if upon saving that new person, I have the option to click one of three buttons "cancel" "save" and "save and add a new person".

However, I suspect it's not going to happen in PAWriter. Here's another approach -- get a large monitor ... 22-inch LCD screens are now quite cheap. On my 1280 x 1024 monitor I can have the important part of an Ancestry.com census image and PAWriter both visible for data transcription. (And that monitor is a 17-inch CRT.) Best, Howard

Howard
The iBooks, (pre-Intel) iMacs, and eMacs do not support extended desktop. They only support mirroring the built-in display. There is one possible solution that is working quite well, so far, on my iBook. It's a third-party script called Screen Spanning Doctor
