Hello Howard, I have used PAW2U for a number of years to record the research done on my family tree. I am now getting to the stage where I have 7 generations. I developed a way of displaying a persons ancestors in excel. I can pick any person in the 'database' and the pedigree is displayed from there. I was able to get an export from another program that made it easy to do this. However the 'free time' available for this program is limited and I have a family project in mind.
I looked at using 'Events for Tagged People' but it returns a row for each event. This results in an unpredictable number of data rows for a person because I don't have the date of death for example (or they are living). There are further complications because if I want to get a spouse name I have to include the Marriage event. I started working on a way of parsing the data into a single row but am getting bogged down in formulas. The output of multiple rows per person also duplicates columns unnecessarily.
I hope you would consider an enhancement to export Events as a single row per person with a selection screen for events. Would you also not use '(unknown)' in the parents name columns. I am very happy with PAW2U and am trying to get past this impasse. I am building the spreadsheet and other material for a family reunion and fact gathering exercise during the summer. The spreadsheet is very accessible for family members who don't have Macs.
Many thanks for your consideration. Eric

Everyone can show the HTML in their own browser, regardless of their system. Of course, you can print out the HTML at any time from any browser.
