1) Is it currently possible to search across all of the notes in a file for words/letters?
I might want to find all instances of "Revolutionary", for instance.
2) Is there a standard way to mark, in the Notes, the date of immigration -- or the fact that the person is an immigrant? And then print a report, say, of a family tree that would print only a tagged portion of Notes -- so that I would end up with a Pedigree that indicates which ancestor was known to have been the "immigrant ancestor"

Choose Edit menu > Find & Replace in All Notes. Enter the phrase, word, or string of characters (e.g., Revolutionary) you are searching for in the first box. Check the Tag those Found box. If you wish you can check the Case-Sensitive box. Leave the Replace with box unchecked. Click OK. All people whose notes contain the Find in Notes phrase will be tagged. 2) No. The best you can do is use the above procedure to tag people with say the words Immigrant Ancestor (or some such phrase) which hopefully you have entered in the notes of the appropriate people. Then choose File menu > Write Text > List of Tagged People to get a list of immigrant ancestores. The pedigree printout is set in stone so no special marking can be used unless you want to put something in the immigrant ancestors' name title or suffix such as IA. Of course an immigrant ancestor would frequently be obvious in a pedigree since his/her birth place would be entered as some other country while the death place would be entered as in your country, and the fact that he/she is in your pedigree makes him/her your ancestor. And no, there is no way to print a portion of someone's notes, unless you make all other parts of the notes private, which is a bad approach.

1) Great -- finding across notes works well. Since I missed that in the Edit menu, you're answer prompted me to re-read much of the Reference book...and realized that we can also tag individuals based on Notes content.
2) And for of just immigrants, I like the idea to enter something like "Imm" into the Name box. I think I'll try that!
Thank so much.
