I was wondering if there is a way to generate a list of people with death dates. I am looking to create a list of people so I can take a trip to the local library and search the archived newspapers for the obits. When I look to tag people in my list the option for date is not available. Any help would be great.
Thanks
Lester

Thanks Lester Hi Lester, Perhaps the simplest way to do this is to tag all people and the choose File menu > Write Text > Events for Tagged People. Then check Deaths when asked which events to include (you might want to include Burials also). You then need to import the resulting file into a spreadsheet program (e.g., AppleWorks, Numbers, Excel) and sort the entries on the date column. If you want to limit the dates to some range, you should first choose Tag menu > Tag People with a Date and enter the range as explained in the dialog box (e.g., 1800-1900). Then check Deaths when asked which events to include (you might want to include Burials also). Now when you write Events for Tagged People, that event or events will already be checked. I re-tested this and found an error in my code that can occur in certain circumstances. So I corrected the code and posted the corrected program at: www.lanopalera.net/Genealogy/beta/PAWriterU.dmgwhere you can download it if necessary. Sorry about the error. Best, Howard

Howard:
Thanks for the information. I did try it before the update and it froze up. Once I download the new file it worked like a charm. I think this will help tremendously in my search through the archived newspapers at the library as I will have a list of names to research and a very specific goal to achieve. Another compliment I would like to give you is the noticeable speed with the new version. I have an iMac that I have Leopard on and it is alot faster than with previous versions of PAW Writer. Keep up the great work.
Lester
