It's been suggested that family history details should be printed out, because CDs and computer systems may change over long periods, What's the best way of doing this for PAW? Pedigrees and descendant lists are easy, but person details and notes could be laborious, Any suggestions or warnings!

It's been suggested that family history details should be printed out, because CDs and computer systems may change over long periods, What's the best way of doing this for PAW? Pedigrees and descendant lists are easy, but person details and notes could be laborious, Any suggestions or warnings! First, be sure to use acid free paper when you print for your archives. Second, every few years copy your records to the latest digital medium, using text or the equivalent to avoid obsolescence of programs. You'll need to make a judgement about images, converting them to the latest formats. In PAWriter, you can print everything about everyone using the genealogical dictionary function. Just tag everyone and then choose File menu > Write HTML (or Write RTF) > Dictionary of Tagged People. Then from the generated HTML (or RTF) file, using your browser for HTML (or Word or AppleWorks or Pages or Nisus Writer Pro for RTF files), print the file. You can also save it as a PDF in the Print dialog. By the way, I prefer Nisus Writer Pro. Hope this helps, Howard
