I would like to "clean up" the list of places. Over time, I have entered various location listings which I now find are either erroneous or else there are too many variants. For example, I have "Mt. Calvary" and "Mount Calvary" To make tagging easier, I would like to delete one of those spellings.
I checked the guidebook but didn't see a way to do that.

Hi Louis, Use Edit menu > Find & Replace in All Places. Read about this menu item in the Reference Guide. You will need to use this for each place you wish to change everywhere in your file, e.g., change Mt. Calvary to Mount Calvary everywhere in your file. Best, Howard

Howard:
When one tries to "Tag people with places containing....", a list appears with all the names and places that have been used before. Some of these are spelled incorrectly (which, of course, was my fault for approving them when they were first used), so I would like to delete them so that PAWS does not "approve" of them in the future. Is there a way to do that?
Thanks.
~Lou

Thanks. ~Lou Hi Lou, You can get rid of names of people and places that are no longer used anywhere. 1 Export your entire file (tag all people) to a GEDCOM for PAWriter (command-X). Then import the GEDCOM into a new file. The unused names will be gone. (The one thing you will have to do is to reset the people in the Recall menu in the new file.) Best, Howard 1You can choose File menu > Write Text > List of Unused Names to see which names are no longer used anywhere.
