You can extend the reach of Person menu > Find Person by Name (command-F).
Choose this menu item as usual. You will see the window containing the alphabetical list of people in your file. As usual you can type the first few letters of a surname and press tab to highlight the first person whose surname starts with those letters. You can scroll up or down, or press the up or down arrow keys, to find the name of the person you're looking for.
Normally, you would double-click the highlighted name (or click on the Select button, or press the Return or Enter key) to go to that person.
But you can also control-click (right-click on most two-button mice) in the list of names to see a popup menu of the names of the highlighted person's parents, partners and children. If you select one of those people from the popup menu, that person will become the highlighted person in the list of names.
Thus you can navigate to various relatives, examining the vital information displayed in the left side of the window, until you find the relative you're looking for. Then you can double-click the highlighted name (or click on the Select button, or press the Return or Enter key) to go to that person.
The also works when you choose Person menu > Find Tagged Person by Name (or press option-command-F). However, once you navigate to a relative using this feature, all people (not just tagged people) will appear in the list -- because the relatives may not be tagged.
