How do I change a "city, county, state" to just "city, state?" For example, I want to change Detroit, Wayne, MI, to just Detroit, MI.
I try entering the "change to" Detroit, MI; and the pop up box says "change Detroit, Wayne, MI" to "Detroit, Detroit, MI."
Enjoying PAW; high-ticket FTM is now a lowly backup.

Hi Howard, Thanks, but it still won't work. Entering Detroit,,MI for replacement of Detroit, Wayne, MI gets replaced with exactly what i'm trying to change.

Hi Howard, Thanks, but it still won't work. Entering Detroit,,MI for replacement of Detroit, Wayne, MI gets replaced with exactly what i'm trying to change. I just entered city,,state in the birth place in the Person window, in place of city, county, state (in this case Alba,,Pennsylvania in place of Alba,Bradford County,Pennsylvania). No problem. No popup box which of course there shouldn't be. I guess I don't understand exactly what you did and where you did it. Can you give me more info about where and what you did? (If you were trying to enter MI and make it stay MI, that won't work, since MI always gets expanded to Michigan. MI is just there for convenience in entered a state. PAWriter always saves the full state name.) Best, Howard
