I have just purchased a MacBook Pro after using an HP Pavilion for 10 years. I have always used PAF5 but can no longer do so. I have downloaded PAWriter to the Mac, created a Gedcom file and put it on my external hard drive. I have tried to import this file to PAwriter but get a message advising me that the named file is busy. The same happens when I try to open a new file in PAWriter. I'm at a loss and hope you can help. David

I suggest you restart your Mac, launch PAW2U and try to Create a New File. I assume that there is no problem doing this. Save the new (empty) file to your Desktop. Quit PAW2U. Double click on the new file. If it says the file is busy, please take a screen shot of the alert and send it to me. Then run Disk Utility, select your startup drive and Verify Disk. Let me know what happens. If a problem is found by Verify Disk, the next step will be repairing the disk and I will tell you what to do. Best regards, Howard

Howard, Thanks for your swift reply. Yes I am using Mavericks and also have only one PAW2U app on the hard disc. I have noticed on the File drop down I can only "Save" Not "Save As" and when I name the file the "busy" message (See Attached) appears. I have not run disc utilities as the Macbook is brand new and I have not had any other problems. I am now going to be away for a few days but will look for your reply when I return. Thanks for your help David.

If that doesn't work, please email me your GEDCOM as an attachment to an email so I can investigate further. Best, Howard

Howard, I have just returned and I tried to open the file again and import the Gedcom file. I don't know what I did but it seems to have worked and I am now up and running. Perhaps you could tell me how to add photos to an individual file. Thanks for your help.David
