For those who wish to export your PAWriter data file containing pictures (images) to MacFamilyTree, here is my correspondence with Thilo in Canada who successfully did it after a few tries:
Hi Thilo,
Wonderful news. I will post this on the forum since it may well be useful to others!
Best,
Howard

Hi again, Howard,
I found a way to import my PAW2 data to MacFamilyTree without losing the media.
I’d always used GEDCOM (ANSEL), and also tried with GEDCOM (UTF-8), since I thought I’d seen that recommended somewhere, and since it says “for another program.” Well, clicking "Export GEDCOM of Tagged People for PAWriter (MacRoman)” did the job.
Maybe you can mention it in the Forum, in case I’m not the only one. By the way, the MFT is a very nice program, but I’m used to yours and will stick with it. It does all I need.
Best regards and wishes,
Thilo

Hi Thilo,
I’m not familiar with MFT though I understand it’s a terrific program. So I can’t really help on this. In the worst case you might have to add each image separately into MFT.
Sorry.
Best regards,
Howard

Hi Howard,
I attempted to register on your Forum to ask this question, but the hosting firm requires invasive personal data to register (date of birth, gender) which I am unwilling to release to an agent I don’t know. So, I’m contacting you via email as I have in the past, and hope you find time to respond.
I’ve been using PAW without a problem since 2010 (well, except initially, when you resolved some issues for me), and it still works smoothly even though I’ve added loads of information since then.
I also work with MacFamiyTree’s genealogy software, which my son uses. When I wish to share my data file, I convert it to a GEDCOM (Ansel) file. How can I include the media (photos) from the wallet (Scrapbook) when importing the GED file to MFT?
I have done that once successfully some two years ago, but can’t replicate the process now that my wallet contains many more images.
When importing, MFT asks me for the location of the media, and when I point it to the Scrapbook, it resumes the import, but no images are in the resulting family tree.
Any suggestion what I’m doing wrong?
Thilo
