Is there or could you add a preference that HTMLs will open in Safari not Explorer and default to Pages instead of Appleworks.

Highlight a PAWriter-generated HTML file. Choose Get Info. Select Open with Safari. Click Change All.
This is the way OS X overrides the default.
You can do this with PAWriter-generated Appleworks files also, choosing Open with Pages or Word or whatever you want that will import RTF files.

Is there an instruction manual that can be downloaded for PAWriter? No, just the Reference Guide that comes with PAWriter. It would require far too much effort on my part to update the rollover help, the Reference Guide, and then also a PDF Reference Guide for users to print every time I update the program. It's a great idea, but I just don't have the time -- sorry. It's just little ole me here, nobody else. I might suggest that you control-click on the Reference button in the main window to generate and launch a browser version of the reference guide. In this version, the images are embedded in the text, much nicer. Then you can print each page from your browser in order to get a manual. A bit tedious, but gets it done.
