I am doing data entry of other peoples' research on the Applegate family. A few decades ago, a person came up with a very nice reference number system and every person is assigned a number. Other people working on the Applegates use these numbers a lot.
I have been dutifully entering those numbers with each person.
I would love to be able to print out register reports that have the reference number for a person either immediately before or after their name. Is this possible to do in PAW now or, if not, could it be added to a future version?

You might enter the number as the suffix (postnominal) part of the name. For example, enter Smith, Frank,,r1234. (The suffix must start with a letter or single quote.) But remember that the suffix will always appear with the name in every report and in every other context. I won't be adding a separate capability to include a reference number since this is a unique request and I try to avoid adding things that are only applicable to one person. Sorry. But I will think about using characters entered into the ID field (which is a reference number when exported to GEDCOM) as an option for printing somewhere in reports. May be awhile before I decide. Meanwhile, you might think about just recording the Applegate reference numbers in the notes. Best, Howard
