Howard:
I have used the "Analyze-linkage" function many times and it always tells me "All linkages are OK". I guess I should be happy for that, however, can you tell me what is being evaluated by that function?
Thanks.

Howard: I have used the "Analyze-linkage" function many times and it always tells me "All linkages are OK". I guess I should be happy for that, however, can you tell me what is being evaluated by that function? Thanks. If you look quickly, you will see a brief statement of each type of linkage that's being checked as they are being checked. Probably too quick for small files. These technical checks include: - Checking the alphabetical order of name pieces (first names, last names, etc.) in the name tree - Checking the alphabetical order of the names of people in the person tree - Checking the linking of entries of deleted people - Checking that the number of real people plus deleted people equals the total number of people entries - Checking the linking of entries of deleted families - Checking that the number of real families plus deleted families equals the total number of family entries - Many checks of the linkage between people and families More explanation of these checks would require a detailed discussion of my data structures. However, if I find problems, I try to tell you in plain english what the problems are and if fixable how to repair. Basically these checks should reveal any corruption in the file structure, although it's possible that some obscure corruption in the notes structure can escape unnoticed -- unlikely but possible. Best, Howard

Thanks, Howard. That's an impressive list of checks.
